SLS – Street Life Sarnies

The group started initially for a small stint over the Summer to help a project in Bristol that my family were going to. A project run by volunteers out of car boots, offering sandwich packs, hot food & drinks, clothing/toiletries & support. With around 180-200 guests that specific night in July and 40-60 sandwich packs to watch hunger so rife and visible was pretty gut wrenching. In Bristol summer centres close often for staff holidays & deep cleaning so many find themselves not eating for 3-4 days. In a modern…

An elderly couple, Ray and Bessie, are “snowbirds” in Texas. Ray always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots. Seeing some on sale one day, he buys them and wears them home, walking proudly. He walks into the house and says to his wife, “Notice anything different about me?” Bessie looks him over, “Nope.” Frustrated, Ray storms off into the bathroom, undresses, and walks back into the room completely naked except for the boots. Again, he asks, a little louder this time, “Notice anything different now??” Bessie looks up and…

Pendragon House Bed & Breakfast

At Pendragon House, there’s more than a warm welcome where hosts Kathryn and Peter Hitching, not provide their guests with a comfy bed and filling welsh breakfast, but also a taste of Caerleon. Underneath this inviting Bed and Breakfast runs a cobbled street, still visible through a trap door in the hall. Further underground there is evidence of ancient drains – linked to the nearby roman baths. There is also a medieval lintel, which is shared with the house next door, and a Georgian window. More recently, the house was used…
